Kastelir: Hotels and Accommodation

Culture and History

The permanent exhibition of the “Etnographic Collection Kaštelir” is housed in an old mill in the centre of Kaštelir. It presents tools, musical instruments, personal belongings and household objects as tangible evidence of life in the area in earlier times. The free-standing bell tower of the parish church in Kaštelir was built in 1869.

Trails through the Landscape

The 113 Asparagus Trail is a 24-kilometre circular route from Kaštelir via Rogovići, Cuki and Ohnići and back to Kaštelir. It begins in the main square of Kaštelir and leads through forests, olive groves and vineyards to Vrbanovica.

The Footpath 512 “Dva mlina” circular route begins in the centre of Kaštelir and extends to the Mirna Valley. It is named after two old mills located nearby. The “Treasure of Nigrinjan” trail starts at the north-eastern entrance to Kaštelir near the cemetery in Babići and follows the former route of the Roman Via Flavia.

Culinary Experiences and Events

Gramperijada is a potato festival held every summer. It features home-grown potatoes prepared in several ways, dishes prepared by residents and guests, local producers and live music. At the Friday Tastings, visitors can learn how traditional Istrian fuži, gnocchi and pljukanci are made; the pasta is then cooked and eaten.

Cycling

GOURM-E BIKE includes stops at local farms and Butiga, as well as tastings of local specialities. Bike Center Kaštelir is connected to ten cycling routes in the wider Poreč area, which together cover 250 kilometres.
