Krančići is a place through which the Stari Rimski Put cycling route passes. It partly follows the historic Roman road Via Flavia. Those wishing to book a hotel in Krancici can continue their accommodation search afterwards.
Cycling, Trails and Landscape
Near Krančići, the Staza Šparoga runs through an area known for wild asparagus. The trail routes in Kaštelir-Labinci include shorter and easier routes suitable for less physically fit recreational visitors and families with children. They lead along forest paths, through olive groves and vineyards, and offer views of the surrounding hills. The Pješačka staza 512 “Dva mlina” reaches two old mills near the former riverbed of the Mirna.
Near Krančići is Vrbanovica, an excursion and memorial site connected by cycling and hiking trails. Sabadin is also nearby, an excursion spot at 170 metres above sea level offering views over the surrounding area.
Natura Camp Karli in Krančići is set in a natural environment of woodland and olive groves.
Culture and Traditions
The Ethnographic Museum preserves exhibits that give visitors a direct impression of how people in the region lived in the past. In Kuzminje, a church procession in honour of Saints Cosmas and Damian is traditionally held; traditional dishes are also prepared there live.
Gramperijada takes place every summer at the end of July in the centre of Kaštelir. The event features potato dishes and products from local family farms.
Culinary Delights
In the municipality of Kaštelir-Labinci, local production of wine, potatoes, olive oil, honey and vegetables is widespread; some wine cellars are listed on the Istria County wine route maps. At Natura Camp Karli, visitors can taste wine, olive oil, honey and other products.
Istarska Kapljica produces extra virgin olive oil from olives grown in its own groves and accepts tasting appointments. OPG Čehić offers tastings and sells its products at the farm, welcoming visitors daily by prior arrangement. At OPG Oliveri, visitors can taste olive oil and learn about the differences between olive varieties. OPG Matković sells seasonal vegetables as well as processed vegetable and fruit products at a stall in Mekiši.
Together In Tour visits agrotourism sites in Kaštelir-Labinci and includes tastings of wine, brandy, olive oil and other indigenous products. Gourm-E Bike is a guided cycling and gourmet tour held every Monday in July and August that visits local family farms. The tour also visits the Butiga shop for local products and includes tastings at its stops.
Friday Tasting presents two local family farms in front of Butiga every Friday in July and August. OPG Radoš has a rustic tasting room where visitors can sample its products.
