The parish church of Saints John and Paul, the martyrs, was built in 1595 on the site of an earlier religious building. Documented heritage features include its 20-metre-high bell tower and the holy water font dating from 1688. Žbandaj was founded by Juraj Filipin, who came from Zemunik near Zadar with 40 families and established the settlement at the site of an abandoned village.
