The former settlement of Gajana was located in Turnina; only the bell tower of the Romanesque Church of St John the Evangelist remains.

At the remains of St John Turnina in Gajana, an interactive interpretation panel enables visitors to visually reconstruct the Romanesque church from the 11th century. The interactive information panel was installed by the Tourist Board of Vodnjan at the remains of St John Turnina in Gajana.

Gajana has a rural and agricultural character associated with vineyards, olive growing and livestock farming. The surrounding area contains prehistoric and Roman archaeological sites.
