Culture

Crikvenica’s Municipal Museum comprises nine collections, predominantly cultural and historical, including a paleontological collection. At the archaeological site of Ad Turres, remains of unique flat-bottomed amphorae of the Crikvenica type have been preserved. The bronze statue “The Fisherman” by Zvonko Car is dedicated to Crikvenica’s local fishing tradition.

Nature

The hiking trails of Kotor begin about a half-hour walk from the centre of Crikvenica and offer views towards the Vinodol Channel and the island of Krk. Kotor is protected as a cultural asset, while two large downy oaks in Guljanov dolac have been designated natural monuments.

On the way

Ljubavna cestica is 8,000 metres long. The Roman Trail begins in Crikvenica at the city sports hall and is 15 kilometres long. For cycling tours, Route 300 starts from Crikvenica and also ends there; it is a 52-kilometre road route.

Local life

The Crikvenica Aquarium is located in the town centre. It has 30 tanks modelled on the natural habitats of marine animals and displays more than 100 fish species from the Adriatic.

Coast

Crikvenica’s main town beach is fully adapted for people with disabilities. In July 2010, Crikvenica’s first dog beach was located next to the small harbour of Podvorska, at the tip of the breakwater.
