History

On Glavica, the preserved historic ensemble of Drivenik comprises a preserved Frankopan castle, the Church of St. Stephen, and the parish church of St. Dujam. Cultural and artistic programmes are associated with the castle. The Church of St. Stephen, dating from the 15th century, and the Baroque parish church of St. Dujam have also been preserved on the castle hill; the parish church was rebuilt in 1821.

Drivenik Castle is a stone Frankopan fortress developed between the 13th and 15th centuries for defence and to control movement through the Vinodol Valley. Its preserved structure includes a square inner courtyard, round corner towers, defensive walls, and a semicircular bastion.
