Brela: Hotels and Accommodation

Brela can be explored through its distinctive coastal, natural, and cultural features. Dugi Rat is a natural pebble beach approximately 900 metres long, with a rock formation in the sea. Anyone wishing to book a hotel in Brela can then continue their search for accommodation.

Coast and Nature

Punta Rata is a natural pebble beach on a protected cape, where clear sea meets fragrant pine forest. The part of Brela that includes Punta Rata has been protected since 1964.

Kamen Brela is a breccia block whose vegetation is described as unique along the Croatian coast. Climbing Kamen Brela is strictly prohibited. Visitors are asked to photograph Kamen Brela only from the sea or the shore.

History and Culture

The unfinished Francuska cesta serves as an open-air museum; information boards provide details about its construction. It was developed in 1810–1811 under the architect Frane Zavore as a road-building project of the early 19th century.

The parish church of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr is the third church built on this site. Outside the parish church cemetery are medieval stone slabs decorated with reliefs of shields, swords, and crosses.

Activities

The Putovima drevne Berulije educational trail runs near Brela. It is 2.7 kilometres long and leads from the Biokovo Nature Park presentation centre in Brela Gornja to St. Nicholas Church.

The Vruja kayaking tour includes paddling to hidden beaches and pristine coves accessible only from the sea.
