Culture and History

The parish church of Saint John the Baptist reflects Krušvar’s longstanding religious heritage and stands in the village cemetery. Permission to build a cemetery church was granted in 1709; its construction is documented as completed by 1718. The present single-nave stone church appears to have been built in 1752 on the site of an earlier church from the early 18th century and has a bell gable for three bells.

The nearby area around Krušvar also includes Sveti Ivan, Sveti Luka, and Sveti Petar.

Nature

Vranjača Cave lies in the surrounding area of Krušvar at the foot of the central Mosor mountain range. Inside are stalactites, stalagmites, cave columns, and natural arches; it has been protected as a geomorphological natural monument since 1963. The surrounding area of Krušvar also includes Golubinka, Jabukovac, Darišica, and Sveti Mihovil.

The Mosor mountain range is associated with local legends and folklore. Its highest peak is 1,339 meters high and offers views toward Split, the islands, and the Dalmatian Zagora.

Things to Do

The two-kilometer thematic hiking trail Rimska cesta follows the remains of ancient road connections along the edges of the municipalities of Dugopolje and Klis.
