Culture and history

The Chapel of St John the Baptist is located in Okrug Donji beside the old road leading to the coast and the port of Stari Porat. It is believed to have been built in the 16th century. The single-nave building has a rectangular apse, a moulded lintel, a rosette, and, above the entrance, a bell gable with late Renaissance stylistic features.

The dedication of the Chapel of St John the Baptist is interpreted in connection with the long-standing hermit tradition on ÄŒiovo. The historic Kave quarry supplied the stone for the bell tower of Trogir Cathedral.
