KUD Sv. Nikola Tavelić from Lišane Ostrovičke is recognised as a bearer of knowledge about Ojkanje. Ojkanje, also called Orzenje, is part of the standard repertoire of KUD Sv. Nikola Tavelić and was performed by its members at all their appearances.
In Lišane Ostrovičke, the local church folk music known as “Lišanska misa” is also maintained; it is closely related to the secular singing of the Lišane region, and KUD Sv. Nikola Tavelić contributes to preserving this tradition. In Lišane, the circle dance Kukulešće as well as the playing of the Cvitara and Diple are part of the traditional performance culture.
History
Archaeological remains from antiquity and the Middle Ages have been found in Lišane. These include graves with stone cover slabs of the so-called Old Croatian type, dating from the 8th and 9th centuries. The foundations of an Old Croatian church were also found in Lišane.
The Church of Sv. Nikola Tavelić was consecrated in 1978. The parish church of Sv. Nikola Tavelić in Lišane Ostrovičke was built between 1975 and 1977 according to plans by the architect Vinko Galić as a votive sanctuary. The Church of Sv. Nikola Tavelić contains a copy of a painting that was exhibited in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome; the copy was returned to its original pre-war place in the church.
