Přistoupim: Hotels and Accommodation

The early medieval hillfort of Šance lies on a prominent elevation northeast of and above the centre of Přistoupim. To the west, north and east, it is naturally protected by the steep slopes of the Jalový potok valley.

Culture and History

The first written mention of the Church of St. Wenceslas in Přistoupim dates from 1352. Its present appearance was created by a radical early Baroque renovation in 1694–1695. A side chapel contains an early Baroque altar dedicated to St. Wenceslas dating from 1668. Next to the church stands a stone Renaissance bell tower from 1590–1591. In 2017–2018, the roof was renewed, the roof structure repaired and the cross with finial gilded on the bell tower.

Approximately 600 gravestones have been preserved in the Jewish cemetery in Přistoupim; the oldest legible ones date from the mid-18th century. The gravestones are an especially valuable testimony to Baroque and Classicist Jewish funerary art. The early Baroque Column of St. Wenceslas dates from 1686; its statue of St. Wenceslas was added in 1715. After its renovation, the former synagogue serves as the seat of the municipal office and the local library.

Routes and Local Events

Newly restored wayside shrines stand near Přistoupim; a field path behind the Church of St. Wenceslas leads to them. A celebration entitled “Slavnost u křížku v poli” was announced there. On 13 February 2026, a Masopust procession took place in Přistoupim, starting at 10 a.m. at the primary school and proceeding through the village.

Geographical Setting

First-class Road No. 12 from Prague to Kolín runs through Přistoupim.
