History and glass

The reconstructed Huť Marie 1904 glassworks in Maxov is offered as a special experience. The glassworks in Josefův Důl–Dolní Maxov is still standing, but is falling into disrepair. The Huť Marie 1904 – Café Bar is also located at Dolní Maxov 113, 468 44.

The settlement of Dolní Maxov was founded in 1700. A chapel and the first glassworks were later built in Dolní Maxov and Karlov. The Forest Chapel (Lesní kaple) is being restored on the border between Dolní Maxov and Karlov.

Every year, the “Josefodolské divadelní jaro” festival with rural theater ensembles takes place in the municipality of Josefův Důl.

Nature and trails

In the immediate vicinity, the Jedlový důl educational trail leads through the local flora and fauna and to rock formations and waterfalls, with nine stops along the way.

The short version of the Gustav Leutelt educational trail is 5.4 km long and has five stops with information boards. The final stop is located at the local elementary school in Dolní Maxov.

Winter sports

The winter sports facilities in Dolní Maxov include the Lesana cross-country skiing area.
