Things to Do

The Stezka svobody connects three Linden Trees of Freedom planted in 2018 in Lučany nad Nisou, Horní Maxov, and Jindřichov. The 12.7 km circular trail is marked with circular trail signs in the colors of the tricolor and has twelve stations designed with glass cubes and metal bands featuring quotations on the subject of freedom.

The Maxovská křížová cesta begins in Horní Maxov near the former chapel. The marked trail is 0.5 km long and ends at the Seibt Spring below the Slovanka lookout tower. Three information boards with historical photographs present the history of Horní Maxov and the creation of the Stations of the Cross.

History

The Maxov cemetery was ceremonially opened in 1890 on All Souls’ Day and was regularly used until the end of the 1940s. It is located on a sunny south-facing slope above the center of Horní Maxov and offers views across a shallow depression with meadows, small wooded areas, and scattered houses.

Culture

The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of the Lord in Horní Maxov was built in 1910.
