Mírov: Hotels and Accommodation

The first written mention of Mírov Castle dates back to 1266. The Mírov castle complex currently serves as a prison; the Mírov Prison with heightened security measures is located in the castle. The complex is not accessible to the public.

Culture

In Mírov, there is a memorial to the victims of National Socialism at a former prison cemetery. This memorial was created in 1967. Another memorial to political prisoners stands in the park opposite the entrance to Mírov Castle. Mírov is also home to a column with a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, which was declared an immovable cultural monument in 2007.

Nature

An educational trail leads through the surroundings in the forest around Mírov Castle. Information boards provide details about the municipality, the castle, local legends and the local flora. The educational trail is suitable for walks for all age groups.

The viewpoint overlooking the castle is a wooden pavilion on a meadow below the forest and offers a view of the castle. North of Mírov Castle, above the town, there is also a viewpoint with a pavilion.

Getting There and Leisure

Mírov can be reached by car and bus. A newly built cycle path leads there by bicycle; on foot, the village can be reached along the Mírovka River. The swimming pool in Mírov has a concrete basin supplied with water from a stream.
