Olšovec: Hotels and Accommodation

A bell tower dating from 1717 stands in the village square of Olšovec and is designated as a state-protected monument. Its bell bears the inscriptions “Sanctus Maria” and “Sanctus Johanesa” as well as the year 1732.

Culture and History

Olšovec’s historical character is also reflected in the chapel dedicated to Saint Mary, which dates from the 18th century. At the intersection on the road to Střítež stands a stone cross dating from 1851. It served as the last stop and a place of farewell before deceased residents were taken to the cemetery in Střítež.

The monument to the victims of the First World War also serves as a memorial to T. G. Masaryk. The new bust of T. Masaryk at this monument was unveiled again on 7 March 1990. House No. 17 was formerly a reeve’s house and dates approximately from the year 1700.

Historical evidence can also be found in Boňkov: the wooden bell tower contains a bell dedicated to Saint Barbara dating from 1703, and the Chapel of the Holy Trinity has been reconstructed.

Events at “Rybníček”

The “Rybníček” cultural and sports complex in Olšovec serves as a venue for dance events and discos in summer. Firefighting competitions for young people and adults are held there every year. The complex also hosts recreational volleyball and football competitions.

Landscape and Water

Lípová skála is a landscape feature with old trees and rocks. Another distinctive feature is the Olšovec Quarry, a flooded former quarry with clear water that is frequently visited for swimming. The former quarry is approximately 12 metres deep; please note that swimming is at your own risk.
