Bořice: Hotels and accommodations

In the Podbor district, archaeological excavations provide evidence of settlement by the Lusatian culture, dating from the 12th to the 4th century BC.

History and cultural traces

A written record from 1122 mentions a farm at the site of today’s House No. 17 in Bořice. The first written mention of Bořice itself dates from 1382 and names Václav z Bořic a Mikulovic. The municipal coat of arms of Bořice is derived from the seal of the Vladik Šimon z Bořic from 1504. Martin z Bořic is also mentioned as a signatory of the Land Peace of the Four United Lands from 1440.

The history of Tvrz Bořice is also marked by several changes: after 1591, it lost its residential function; in 1652, it was converted into a forester’s lodge, in 1790 into an inn, and in 1927 it was demolished. Tvrz Bořice is designated as inaccessible and survives only in the form of terrain traces.

Events and community life

Traditional events in Bořice include a football tournament for veterans as well as a nohejbal tournament for three-member teams competing for the mayor’s cup. Bořicko-Týnecký SK was established in 1924 and is the direct predecessor of today’s TJ Sokol Bořice.

The Rybářské závody is a traditional summer event in Bořice, combining sporting enthusiasm with a friendly atmosphere. The Podzimní slavnosti in autumn include cider pressing, pumpkin activities, and Halloween celebrations.

Babský bál is a social evening with music and dancing. Čarodějnice is a popular spring gathering featuring a fire and a children’s program. Divadélko is a public performance by local children in Bořice, who rehearse a short fairy tale or song each autumn. At Vánoční zpívání, participants gather by the illuminated Christmas tree to sing Christmas carols and enjoy Christmas punch.

Sports and geographical setting

The TJ Sokol Bořice football complex covers 6,500 m² and includes a 97-metre-long and 57-metre-wide natural-grass football pitch, 200 standing places, and 50 seats; it is designed for regional competitions.

There is a bus stop in the Podbor district on the Dašice–Hrochův Týnec route. West of Bořice, the Bořícký potok flows into the Novohradka.
