Nature and Trails

Among the most valuable areas of the Čimice Valley are south-facing rock outcrops made of hard Proterozoic schists. These rocks support plant communities of rocky steppes, characterized by the steppe grasses Wallis fescue and hard fescue.

The Draháň Valley is home to numerous rare plant and animal species. The yellow-marked hiking trail leads from the Sídliště Čimice stop through the Draháň Valley, past a former mill, to the banks of the Vltava. As part of the circuit, a blue-marked hiking trail leads back through the Čimice Valley.

History and Archaeology

The hillfort was inhabited almost continuously from the 5th century BC to the 9th century AD and is protected as a Category I archaeological monument.

The Čimice Fortress area is an archaeological area with documented or reasonably expected archaeological finds. The archaeological evidence at the Čimice Fortress covers the Late Roman period, the Migration Period, the Early Middle Ages, the High Middle Ages and the Late Middle Ages.

The former Neoclassical Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from the second half of the 18th century, stood on the rise of the old village square. After reconstruction, only the upper part of the bell tower remains today. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in a niche in the chapel.

The colored hiking-trail markings can be classified independently of the cultural themes. This thematic organization makes different interests comparable without prescribing a particular order.
