Staré Dobrkovice: Hotels and Accommodation

The Staré Dobrkovice archaeological site is classified as an important archaeological locality in category ÚAN I and is assigned to the periods of the Mousterian and the High Middle Ages.

Culture

The historical character of the area is defined by several different buildings and sites of remembrance. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk forms part of a unique ensemble of numerous small Baroque religious buildings scattered across a wide area beneath Mount Kleť. This ensemble is connected with pilgrimage processions to the well-known pilgrimage site of Kájov.

The railway bridge on the northern edge of the village was built in 1892. Another bridge over the Polečnice is also recorded in Staré Dobrkovice. The Renaissance mill is designated as a cultural landmark of Staré Dobrkovice. The Dobrkovický Mill, also called Hamerský mlýn, stands on the Polečnice; it is a protected architectural monument and a Gothic-Renaissance-Baroque building complex. The Dobrkovický water mill, also called Hölderův mlýn and Hammer Mill, was converted from a water-powered hammer mill.

Nature

The Dobrkovická Cave lies south of Staré Dobrkovice, directly on the road from Český Krumlov to Kájov. Along the Staré Dobrkovice section of the cycle path, it lies below a vertical rock face with an overhang. A small number of bone and flint tools, as well as the remains of prehistoric animals, were found in the cave. It was probably temporarily inhabited by a group of Upper Paleolithic hunters of the species Homo sapiens sapiens.

Part of the row-like development of Staré Dobrkovice along the stream extends into the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area. Beneath the Dobrkovice Bridge, children from several generations went to see the stalactite formations.

Cycling

The short Malý Lazecko-Vyšenský Circuit is also suitable for children and less experienced cyclists. The circuit is 14 km long and paved; it takes approximately two hours to complete.
