Hradiště: Hotels and accommodations

Hradiště is home to a significant archaeological site on Hradišťský vrch, a lookout tower, and several educational and hiking trails. If you book a hotel in Hradiště, it will be in a settlement first mentioned in 1368.

Culture and history

Hradišťský vrch is a significant archaeological site. It is located 500 meters north-northwest of the village of Hradiště. Part of the stone rampart from the original fortification ring has been preserved.

Hradiště is home to a Trinity Column that is more than 4.5 meters high and consists of a combination of granite and shell limestone. The Baroque Trinity ensemble in Hradiště dates from 1764 and is considered an example of the Throne of Grace depiction originating from the Lower Austrian pilgrimage site of Sonntagberg. The Trinity ensemble has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958.

The settlement of Hradiště near Kaplice was first mentioned in 1368.

Nature

A 28-meter-high lookout tower stands on Hradišťský vrch and was opened to visitors in 2019. The lookout tower is accessible year-round and free of charge. From there, the view extends over the Bohemian Forest, the Gratzen Highlands, and, in good visibility, as far as the Alps.

Hiking trails

A blue-marked hiking trail from Hradiště reaches the lookout tower on Hradišťský vrch after approximately 2 kilometers. The educational trail around Suchý and Hradišťský vrch includes information panels with QR codes as well as simple observation tasks for children. The new educational trail was officially opened on August 11.

The Údolím Černé educational trail has nine stations. From Hradiště, a yellow-marked hiking trail leads to the Soběnov Reservoir and thus to the Údolím Černé educational trail.

The “Na zříceninu Sokolčí a na rozhlednu” route can lead to Dluhoště: via the main road to Hradiště and from there onward to the lookout tower on Hradišťský vrch.
