Mahouš: Hotels and Accommodation

Mahouš lies on the southwestern edge of Zbudovské Blata. The village is documented as a possession of Zlatá Koruna Monastery as early as around 1300.

Culture and History

A distinctive architectural detail is Forge No. 35, which is connected to a residential building. Its gable is designed in the Blata architectural style. The listed farmstead No. 26 is also one of the village’s notable buildings. Farmstead No. 5 has a longitudinal floor plan created by connecting two buildings that originally had their gables facing the street.

On the western side of Mahouš village green stands a Gothic stone wayside shrine. There is also a Baroque niche chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary on the road to Němčice. In the wider regional surroundings of Mahouš lies Chlumany, which is considered an ancient site.

Nature

Mužský, a mountain, lies in the immediate vicinity of Mahouš. Skalka and Vrata, two mountains, are also located in the surrounding area. Na Štumpíru [Hlavatce u Českých Budějovic], a hill, is likewise situated nearby.

Cycling

The signposted educational cycling trail “Historická krajina Netolicko” passes through Mahouš. It passes the forge as one of its points of interest; the cycling trail comprises a total of 16 stops with information boards.

At the tractor gathering in Mahouš, several dozen tractors, including historic models, other agricultural machinery, and ploughing demonstrations are on display.
