Porín – Village Chapel, Railway and Landscape

The first written records of Pořín date from the 14th century. The place name also points to an older historical interpretation: it is derived from the personal name Póra and understood as “Pórův dvůr” (“Póra’s court”). The interpretation of the name thus supplements the town’s early written record with a linguistic-historical reference.

Another historical trace is the Tábor–Pelhřimov–Horní Cerekev railway line. The line was built in 1883 by Italian workers and crosses the difficult terrain of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. It is known as “Hrbatá” because its route passes through this terrain.
