Rataje: Hotels and Accommodations

The Church of the Holy Trinity preserves valuable interiors with surviving vaults, a coved ceiling, and stone floors. Historical traces also include the Valy ratajské, the surviving remains of a medieval fortification.

The panels along Jan Karel Hraše’s archaeological educational trail provide information about the respective archaeological sites and Hraše’s research, as well as modern archaeology, research methods, and the evaluation of research results. The trail can be completed as a continuous excursion of approximately 15 km along both banks of the Smutná; below Haškovcova Lhota, the river is crossed.

In the Na Homoli grove south of Rataje, historian and writer Jan Karel Hraše discovered dozens of burial mounds. At the lower end of Rataje village green stands a rural farmstead with a log house and farm buildings, probably built in the first half of the 19th century. Rataje also has houses in the style of South Bohemian Baroque.

The former mill in Rataje stands on the Smutná, a Neoclassical rural farmstead with a two-gabled layout dating from the late 18th century. Regional sacral architecture includes the Church of Svatý Jan in the vicinity of Rataje, the Church of Svatý Jan in the wider regional area around Rataje, and the Church of Svatá Anna in the wider regional area.

Ulčí vrch is located in the immediate vicinity of Rataje. The mountains of Obora and Zvíkovec are also nearby. In the wider regional area around Rataje are Hrad Zvíkov Castle and Smrčí mountain.

A paddling trip on the Smutná can begin at the bridge in Rataje. Cultural life includes the DUHA bagpipe band; annual cultural and social events are also held there, such as carol singing in the chapel and a hunters’ ball.
