History

The first written mention of Slaník dates from 1359; at that time, the local mill belonged to Řepice. The settlement was originally called Dvořec.

Culture

The “Na hrádku” site is a wooded, elongated ridge along the old road west of Slaník. A surface survey on the southern slope uncovered gray-black pottery shards that can be dated to the 13th to 14th centuries.

In front of the chapel in Slaník stands a stone cross dating from 1907. Slaník is also home to a Jan Hus monument, which was supplemented with the names of those who fell between 1914 and 1918.

Routes and activities

The Slaník memorial lime tree was planted in 1848 and stands next to a small wayside shrine. A newly planted avenue of apple trees leads there.

In the 2015 events calendar of the Memorial of the Five Prácheňské Marches, “Slanická lípa” was listed as a march organized by the Slaník Municipal Office. The “Slanická lípa” march started in Slaník and offered routes of varying difficulty for pedestrians and cyclists. Routes of 10, 20, 30, and 50 kilometers were available; the 30- and 50-kilometer routes were intended for cyclists.

The Slaník water sports campsite is located at a weir on the Otava.
