Řečice U Humpolce: Hotels and accommodations

The landmark of Řečice is the Church of St. George, a rare example of vernacular Gothic architecture from the early 14th century. It stands on a wooded hill in the middle of an old cemetery and offers views of the surrounding countryside, particularly Lipnice Castle. The church complex includes an original wooden bell tower and 14th-century wall paintings.

Culture and history

In front of the cemetery entrance stands a stone Augustinian cross from the 18th century.

The Doly, Na hrbech archaeological area is located in the cadastral territory of Řečice u Humpolce, in the floodplain and on the slopes of the Bystrý stream south and southeast of the settlement of Bystrá. Doly, Na hrbech is an archaeologically significant wetland with traces of industrial production activity and an archaeological site with abandoned placer-mining works dating from the Middle Ages to the modern era.

The 37 km cycling route “In the Footsteps of Gothic” is classified as easy and runs mainly along roads as well as forest and field paths. It includes the Church of St. George in Řečice as a tourist destination.

The green-marked Cesta Gustava Mahlera hiking trail connects Řečice with Kaliště and Kejžlice. Cycle Route No. 1214 also continues from Řečice toward Kejžlice.

The surroundings of Řečice include the Orlík ruins, Mount Melechov, Mount Špičák, and Želivský Kláštor Monastery. The Vlčí hrdlo hill [Lipnice nad Sázavou] is located in the immediate vicinity of Řečice.
