Kadrina

Kadrina is a stop on the Tallinn–Narva railway line. The town is home to Kadrina Katariina kirik, a historic railway station building and a range of sports facilities. Leisure options range from artificial-snow trails and a bike park to an indoor swimming pool and a sauna.

There are also various options for walks and exercise: the Kadrina Paisjärve kergliiklustee is intended for Nordic walking, fitness running and walking. The entrance to the Penijõe-Aegviidu-Kauksi hiking trail is 0.5 km from Kadrina railway station.

Kadrina terviserada has artificial-snow trails measuring 2.4 km, 1.7 km and 1 km. They are used for exercise year-round and for skiing in winter. The facilities also include a low ropes course and a bike park with jumps and a pump track.

Winter activities at Kadrina terviserada also include a floodlit sledding hill and an ice rink. The different options cater to a range of interests: you might enjoy skiing, sledding or cycling in the bike park. Kadrina Paisjärv also has a court intended for beach volleyball.

Kadrina Spordikeskus has a sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, a weight room, a wrestling room, a shooting range and a table tennis hall. Kadrina Katariina kirik is a religious building constructed in the 15th century. Its thick walls and vaulted rooms suggest that it may also have served a defensive purpose. The church contains an almost life-size crucifix with a figure of Christ made of ash wood, brought from Germany in 1490. The present organ was purchased in Saint Petersburg in 1895. You can listen to organ music in the church by prior arrangement.

The railway station’s second reception building is also historically noteworthy: it was built in 1898 according to the same standard design as the buildings in Auvere, Kehra, Kohtla and Lehtse. Unlike those buildings, it was built of wood and decorated with elaborate wood carvings. Kadrina Katariina kirik has seasonal visiting hours: from 1 June to 31 August, it is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00; from 1 September to 31 May, visits are possible by arrangement. If you plan to visit the church during your stay, check the period that applies to your travel dates. Listening to organ music requires a separate prior arrangement.

Kadrina külasauna dates back to 1957. On Sundays, there are separate sauna times: women can use the sauna from 14:00 to 18:00, and men from 18:30 to 22:00. These fixed hours are important when planning a Sunday visit.
