Culture and History

Cseh Ede, the local landowner, had the Szent-Anna Chapel built in Varga in 1867. The single-nave, neo-Gothic Szent-Anna Chapel in Varga was constructed in 1868 and consecrated in honour of Saint Anne. Memorial stone plaques on both sides of the entrance commemorate the heroes who fell in the First World War; another list of names has commemorated the victims of the Second World War since 2005.

The writer and translator Sásdi Sándor, who was awarded the József Attila Prize, was born in Varga in 1898. A Sásdi Sándor Memorial House is located in his birthplace in Varga.
