Culture

Gádoros preserves the name of one of two villages from the Árpád era that are connected with the present-day settlement. Neither was resettled in the late Middle Ages; in 1241, the area was burned down by the Tatars. The writer Zsigmond Justh is associated with Gádoros: his tomb monument was moved there in 1963, and he founded a peasant theater on his estate where local agricultural workers performed classical and folk plays.
