Délegyháza

There are twelve gravel pit lakes within the municipality, with a total water surface of about 300 ha. Lakes I to III cover a combined 80 hectares and are 1 to 5 m deep. The municipality also includes a nudist beach with a campsite and Piróth Castle, which now houses the Kölcsey Cultural Center. Délegyháza can be reached by car via the M0 motorway and Route 51.

The gravel pit lakes are suitable for swimming, fishing, and various water sports, offering different ways to enjoy the water. The bottoms of Lakes I to III alternate between gravelly and muddy areas, and the lakes are 1 to 5 m deep.

This information applies to Lakes I to III and should not be taken to describe the entire municipal area. Those interested in fishing should also note that these three lakes are managed by a dedicated organization: the Délegyházi Horgász Sportegyesület.

Fishing is not permitted at Sirály Beach on Délegyháza Lake II from May 1 to September 30. This time restriction applies to the beach area and is distinct from the management of Lakes I to III.

Rules for motor vehicles also apply to specific lakeside areas. In the lakeside area of Szent István Park on Délegyháza Lake I, motor vehicles are prohibited from entering and parking. There is an exception for anglers arriving at the site: they may use the area briefly to launch and retrieve boats. The same exception applies at Sirály Beach on Délegyháza Lake II, where motor vehicles are also prohibited from entering and parking. The exception applies to the boat and the short time needed for this purpose.

Another location-specific detail concerns the bathing area at the Tavirózsa campsite on Délegyháza Lake IV: the competent government authority has not approved swimming there. This information applies to this bathing area, not to all of Délegyháza’s lakes.

Piróth Castle is the only surviving building among Délegyháza’s former castles and manor houses. It now houses the Kölcsey Cultural Center, the oldest and most richly decorated building in Délegyháza.

The municipality includes an expansive area characterized by farmsteads, where visitors can hike and go horseback riding.

Délegyháza is home to a nudist beach that was established as the first of its kind in Hungary and is still operating; it has a campsite.

The Délegyházi Napok is one of the municipality’s largest summer events and an important annual gathering for local residents and visitors from the surrounding area.

For travel by car, the routes mentioned lead to Délegyháza via the M0 motorway and Route 51. Once there, keep the different interests in mind: if you plan to spend time by the water, check the specific rules for each beach area; if you prefer hiking or horseback riding, these activities are available in the expansive part of the municipality characterized by farmsteads.
