Skazka Canyon is located 4 kilometers from Tosor. Between Tosor and Tamga on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, it stretches as a landscape of eroded red and orange chalk and sandstone formations. Easy paths lead through the canyon; reaching a viewpoint involves a short, mildly exposed scramble with panoramic views. Skazka Canyon is described as an easy hike near Issyk-Kul and offers views of the lake and snow-covered mountains.

Tosor Gorge is a high-altitude gorge on the Terskey-Ata-Too range on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, near Tosor. Many tourist routes pass through it; it is suitable for day hikes and nature picnics. In its lower section, the gorge narrows sharply beside its river and opens through picturesque rock gates into a wider mountain valley. Tosor Gorge has many spots for picnics, tents, and camping. The route through the gorge leads to the Jyluu-Suu hot springs.

In Tosor, horseback riding routes begin on the forested slopes of the Terskey range, heading toward Barskoon and Juuku.

Trails and Transport

Tosor Gorge has rough, sandy, and rocky roads; travel there is recommended only with an off-road-capable vehicle and an experienced driver. Tosor Pass rises to approximately 3,900 meters and leads from Tosor Gorge toward the Kichi-Naryn Valley. Tosor Pass is described as the only drivable high-mountain pass on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul leading toward southern Kyrgyzstan.

On the southern Issyk-Kul route, the drive is scenic but slower than on the paved northern highway.

Culture and History

The archaeological site of Tosor is classified as a Mousterian archaeological monument on the right bank of the Tosor River. A fortified tortkul associated with Tosor had high corner towers. The fortification protected a caravan route along the lakeshore and a branch through the mountain passes.
