Roja combines cultural history with walking and nature activities. The Rojas River Nature Trail consists of three color-coded routes of 2 km, 7 km, and 15 km. They include three rest areas with benches, tables, toilets, swings, exercise equipment, waste bins, and fire pits. This allows you to tailor your stay to a short loop, a longer hike, or a more extensive nature activity.

One prominent historic building is the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Roja. A tall stone-built tower was added to its wooden church in 1854. In 1878, a stone church building with austere, simple forms was added to the tower. The tower was bombed during the First World War and restored in 1992; the restored stone tower is 12.7 meters high.

The maritime history is presented from several perspectives at the Rojas Sea Fishing Museum. The exhibitions cover Krišjānis Valdemārs, the Roja Nautical School, sailboat construction in the 19th century, and families of shipbuilders and seafarers. The museum also presents the history and distinctive features of the Roja coast and offers various educational programs.

Another exhibition venue is “Vai Tu mīli jūru?”. It is dedicated to Krišjānis Valdemārs and is located in the historic teachers' building of the Roja Nautical School (Lubezere). The Rojas River Nature Trail is not only suitable for different uses because of its three route lengths, but also because of its facilities. The rest areas make it possible to take breaks during a walk, while the different route lengths allow for an easy choice based on the time available. From spring to autumn, hiking on foot, by bicycle, and by boat is possible along the Rojas River and in the adjacent forests. In winter, when there is snow, cross-country skiing is also available. Depending on the season, Roja can therefore be explored both via paths on land and through a river experience.

“Plocis” is an equipped forest park as well as a place for walking and relaxation in the center of Roja. For different interests, it has a slide with a 3-meter-high climbing wall. A nature photo frame offers a view of the park pond. These features complement the longer paths along the river with a manageable park visit.
