What historical facts are there about Kangaru Station?
The two-storey brick building of Kangaru Station was constructed in November 1937 according to a design by the architect Voldemārs Ozoliņš. The station therefore belongs to a clearly dated historical context: in 1935, Kangari was one of five railway stations in Ropažu Parish.
The older transport history also extends beyond the individual station. The historic 600 mm narrow-gauge railway line from Ikšķile Station to Ropažu Manor, with Kangari among its stops, was also actively used in 1919 during the Latvian War of Independence. This historical context distinguishes the railway station from a mere place name and makes the development of transport routes in the region easier to understand.
