Culture and History

The Raseinių krašto istorijos muziejus was established in the former detention houses, which served as a Soviet prison from 1930 to 1952. The complex comprising the Church of the Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Raseiniai and the Dominican monastery is a state-protected immovable cultural heritage site of regional significance consisting of several parts.

The Dominican monastery in Raseiniai was built between 1760 and 1778 as a large, two-storey, three-winged U-shaped building. The Žemaitis Independence Monument stands in the central square of Raseiniai.

Nature and Leisure

Rasupio Park is a place for quiet relaxation and active leisure in the historic district of Raseiniai. Rasupio Park also features an educational area called the “Botany Class”. There are boat moorings on the banks of Rasupio Pond. Raseiniai Hill can be explored on foot.

The Raseiniai Hippodrome has two tracks, one grass and one sand. It is considered the only hippodrome in the Baltic states suitable for flat racing.
