Culture

The present-day brick Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a late Baroque basilica. It was consecrated on September 8, 1786; the image of the Virgin Mary located in the basilica was solemnly crowned on the same day.

The Apparition Chapel in Šiluva is 44 meters high. The present-day Apparition Chapel was completed in 1922–1924 and consecrated on September 8, 1924. It is the only completed monumental structure by the architect and sculptor Antanas Vivulskis that has survived to this day.

The museum displays the unique Infulat vestments, the only ones of their kind in Lithuania.

Nature

The Way of the Cross through the Šiluva Forest is 2.5 km long and leads to the Apparition Chapel.

The 21 km-long Šiaulės kalnas–Šiluva pilgrimage route runs partly through Tytuvėnai Regional Park.

The Šilinės Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary takes place from September 8 to 15.
