Culture and Nature
Alanta's name has been documented since 1436. In 1909, a stone church was built there on the site of an earlier Gothic church. The documented history of the town is therefore also of interest to travelers who take historic buildings into account when choosing a destination.
Alanta lies on the banks of the Virinta River, opposite the mouth of the Alanta stream.
Near the town, in the village of Naujasodis, is the Alanta Manor ensemble. The manor dates from the mid-19th century; the ensemble includes a museum, an art gallery, and a historic park with ponds.
