Dănceni: Lake, Archaeology and Local Culture

Dănceni is located on the shore of the Dănceni Reservoir, which lies on the Ișnovăț River. In the center of Dănceni there is a recreational park covering an area of 40 ares. The forest area within the territory of Dănceni covers 93 hectares and consists of several acacia plots. The first precise documentary mention of Dănceni dates from April 16, 1617.

A Getic biritual necropolis was also investigated in Dănceni between 1974 and 1976 and in 1978. Dănceni III is classified as an archaeological settlement from the 16th and 17th centuries. The “Sfântul Mare Mucenic Dumitru” Church was founded in 1997 and is considered architectural cultural heritage of local importance. Its monument identification number is 704. The “Intrarea în Templu a Maicii Domnului” Church in Dănceni is classified as an archaeological monument dated to 1878. These two details should be considered separately, as they refer to different forms of classification.

The “Hristos a Înviat” Easter song festival is also part of the documented local culture. The festival reached its seventh edition. At this seventh edition, traditional Easter songs, folk costumes and exhibitions of folk handicrafts were presented.
