Buczyna: Hotels and Accommodation

Nature

Buczyna Park is home to the protected natural monument “Buczek”, a 200-year-old pedunculate oak with a circumference of 5.5 metres.

Culture

The filial Church of St. Bartholomew in Buczyna was first mentioned in 1376. In the 16th century, it acquired its Renaissance appearance; at that time, a tower, a sacristy and a chancel were added. Its interior includes a high altar, two side altars, a wooden baptismal font and an 18th-century pulpit.

The Orthodox Church of St. Demetrius in Buczyna was originally a Protestant church. Next to it stand a detached bell tower and the remains of a monument to the local residents who fell in the First World War.

History

Of the former castle and park complex with manor farm in Buczyna, an entrance gate, an overgrown park and individual farm buildings have survived, including a former mill. In the park, an information board tells a traditional legend about the former castle and displays photographs of the castle during its heyday.

Traditions

The “Noc Świętojańska”, held every June for several years, has become a local tradition in Buczyna; wreaths are set afloat on the Szprotawa River and spectacular jumps over a fire take place.
