Radzyń Podlaski at a glance

The palace and park complex lies in the eastern part of the city on a northern terrace of the Białka River that was artificially reshaped. Its layout follows the French principle of “entre cour et jardin”: the main building stands between a courtyard of honour and the garden behind it. The “Bulwar nad Białką” tourist cycle route runs along the river and close to the listed complex of the Parish Church of the Holy Trinity.

What makes the palace complex special?

The layout “entre cour et jardin” describes the basic arrangement of the complex: the courtyard of honour lies on one side of the main building, with the garden behind it. This means the palace can be viewed not just as a single building, but as part of a planned complex.

The residence includes the Oranżeria, built around 1760 during the extensive reconstruction under Eustachy Potocki, based on a design by the architect Jakub Fontana. The sculptures are by Jan Chryzostom Redler; the Oranżeria is considered one of the finest Rococo orangeries in Poland. In the 1950s and 1960s, the building was converted for use as a cinema and cultural centre. Since 1996, temporary exhibitions by the “Oranżeria” Gallery have been held in its cellars. If you are planning to visit an exhibition, check the current programme in advance.

What churches and historical landmarks are there?

The Chapel of the Guardian Angels was built in the 17th century with financial support from Deputy Chancellor Stanisław Antoni Szczuka. Its hexagonal floor plan, two storeys and conical roof with a Baroque lantern give it a clearly defined architectural form. During an extensive restoration from 2009 to 2011, stucco decorations in the Lublin Renaissance style were uncovered.

The Church of the Holy Trinity houses the Mniszech epitaph, one of the most outstanding monuments of its kind in Poland. A precisely dated historical event is also associated with the church: on 2 February 1767, the Prince-Bishop of Warmia, Ignacy Krasicki, solemnised the marriage there of Cecylia Urszula Potocka and Prince Janusz Sanguszko. Together, the chapel and parish church offer different ways to explore the history of the place: the architectural history of a single sacred building and the story surrounding an important church complex.

What routes and experiences can you include in your plans?

The “Bulwar nad Białką” is a tourist cycle route along the river that passes close to the parish church complex. A street workout park is located beside it, near the reservoir. A city notice dated 21 August 2026 reported that the park was complete and open for use; free use was available to residents. This restriction is important if you are including the facility in your plans.

A route description published in 2018 gives the Doliną Tyśmienicy cycle route as a 50-kilometre loop along public roads. It passes through Radzyń Podlaski, the Tyśmienica Valley, Czemierniki, Suchowola and Branica, before returning to Radzyń Podlaski. The routes therefore differ considerably in the area they cover: the “Bulwar nad Białką” runs along the river within the city, while the loop connects several places. Signage and road conditions can change; check them before setting off.

Which cultural events should you be aware of?

The annual Dni Karola Lipińskiego is a concert series featuring classical music in honour of the virtuoso violinist and composer, who was born in Radzyń Podlaski. Check the programme and dates for the relevant year.

Around September and October, the community of the Zofía Sękowska Special Education Centre, which administers the Chapel of the Guardian Angels, celebrates the “Dni z Aniołami”. The festival is intended for the centre’s community; it is not a general public event.

The Izba Pamięci “Warszawska 5a” in Radzyń Podlaski is dedicated to collecting, preserving, conserving, making accessible and sharing materials commemorating the victims of Soviet and German totalitarianism in the Radzyń Podlaski area and Radzyń County.

How can you include hotels in your plans?

When searching for hotels, you can use your main interest—palace and church history or a cycling trip—as a starting point for your plans. Check availability for your travel dates; for the 50-kilometre loop, you should also take current road conditions into account. Explore the destinations Radzyń Podlaski and Borek too.
