Culture

The Rynek is characterized by Renaissance townhouses, the town hall, and a columned fountain. The town hall occupies a historic position there: an earlier town hall already existed in 1483, while the present building was erected in 1602–1609 on Gothic burgage plots.

The former Protestant church on Kościelna Street dates from 1741–1746; the tower was added in 1846. A Renaissance portal has been preserved in its northern wall, and the adjacent cemetery contains gravestones from the 17th to the 19th century.

Nature

A 140-meter-long wooden footbridge is accessible through the original gate of the former bridge.

Bytom Odrzański had a historic ferry service across the Oder. The crossing operated until the bridge was built in 1907, resumed service after its destruction in 1945, and ran until the 1990s.

History

In the wider regional surroundings of Bytom Odrzański lies Głogów – a 12th-century ducal castle.

The Rynek also includes the historic building known as the “Pod Złotym Lwem” Hotel. It dates from the late 16th century, the late 17th century, and the year 1711.
