Nature

The village of Goleniowy is characterized by extensive meadows crossed by small streams. Peat deposits lie beneath the meadows; the springs known as Kagan Duży, Średni and Mały can also be found there.

Goleniowy is located in the Polish Voivodeship of Silesia, in Zawiercie County and the municipality of Szczekociny.

The village lies in the eastern part of the Niecka Nidziańska geomorphological region at an altitude of approximately 310 meters above sea level.

Culture

The parish church preserves a Gothic wooden sculpture of the Madonna and Child dating from around the middle of the 15th century. The Baroque furnishings also include a main altar from the early 18th century and a baptismal font from the 17th century.

Cycling

A listed road cycling route follows the Goleniowy–Drużykowa–Mekarzów–Goleniowy loop and is 21 km long. The loop is a specific point of interest for visitors interested in cycling.

Beside the Goleniowy–Przybyszów road, a cast-iron cross marks the grave of Rtm. Aleksander Edelstein and 17 insurgents of the January Uprising who fell in the battle near Sprowa on December 4, 1863.
