Piaseczno was formerly known as Dupice. According to official local historical records, the settlement has existed since at least 1421; its foundation in 1366 is also suggested in some accounts. The name Piaseczno has been used since 1928.

Archaeological traces of Neanderthals, including flint and bone artefacts, were found in the Okiennik Cave in Piaseczno and in the Dziadowa Skała Cave. The traces of modern humans are attributed to the Upper Palaeolithic and the Late Palaeolithic.
