Olecko’s historic urban fabric includes buildings and streets dating from the 16th to the 19th century. It includes the market square and the adjacent streets. As an ensemble, it has been listed in the heritage register since 8 November 1956 under registration number A-181. The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross adds a single, more precisely dated building to this picture: it was built between 1859 and 1861 and registered on 15 December 1989 under number A-2963.

The church’s furnishings also reflect the period in which it was built. The wooden Neo-Gothic main altar dates from the second half of the 19th century; two matching side altars, a Neo-Gothic pulpit and a baptismal font from the same period have also been preserved.
