Bughea de Sus in the Iezer Mountains

Bughea de Sus lies at the foot of the Iezer Mountains and was designated a tourist and balneoclimatic spa resort under Government Decision H.G. 867/2006. For travelers, the area combines a clearly defined landscape setting and a spa resort profile with nature, springs and cultural heritage.

Classification

The balneoclimatic spa resort lies at an altitude of 590 meters and is also known as the Băile Măgura balneoclimatic spa resort. The Măgura springs are athermal and hypotonic; they are used for both external and internal treatments.

A hydrothermal occurrence was also identified in four water springs in Bughea de Sus.

Nature

The Bughea River carries clear, cold water. The hills around the commune of Bughea de Sus, including Măgura, Coasta Înaltă and Gresia, are covered with fir, oak, birch, beech and poplar forests.

Culture

The “Schimbarea la față” church in the commune of Bughea de Sus was built around 1892. It is classified as a Category B historic monument under code AG-II-m-B-13501.

The monument to the heroes of the First and Second World Wars stands on road DC15A, opposite the school. It consists of three mosaic-concrete sections on a three-tiered stepped base and is topped with a cross.

The commune therefore contains both a historic religious building and a monument associated with the First and Second World Wars. The two structures differ in their period of construction, classification and design.

Geographical location

From Bughea de Sus, the road via Măgura follows the Târgului River valley uphill to Cabana Voina, which lies 25 kilometers to the north. The connection via Măgura thus establishes a further geographical link between the commune, the river valley and Cabana Voina.
