Balotești Commune is located in the Câmpia Română, in the southern part of Câmpia Vlăsiei, which is also called Câmpia Bucureștilor. Landscape

The relief of Balotești Commune consists of an almost flat plain with a slight inclination from north to south. The uniformity of the plain is interrupted in the north by the Valea Vlăsiei, in the south by the Valea Cociovaliștea, and by local depressions formed through mechanical and subsequently chemical suffusion processes. Hygrophilous vegetation is strongly developed along the undeveloped sections of the Valea Vlăsiei.

Culture and History

The church in Balotești dates from 1763. It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, Saint Theodore Tiron, and Saint Stelian of Paphlagonia.

The Balotești Monument stands at the intersection of Strada I.C. Brătianu and Șoseaua Unirii. Its inscription commemorates the heroes of the commune from the years 1916–1919, 1941–1945, and December 1989. The monument consists of two prismatic volumes made of red granite and a granite cross.

On the right bank of the Cociovaliştea stream, at the eastern edge of Petreşti Forest, the Baloteşti archaeological site includes a settlement from the Geto-Dacian period as well as a Bronze Age settlement. The Baloteşti archaeological site, point “Malul stâng Cociovaliştea”, lies on the left bank of the Cociovaliştea and includes a settlement from the Geto-Dacian period.

The Baloteşti archaeological site, point “Râul Vlăsia”, lies on the right bank of the Vlăsia stream, east of the road to the TBC sanatorium, on agricultural land and in Paşcani Forest. The archaeological site of Săftica with the designation IF-I-s-B-20258 lies on the right bank of the Vlăsia stream, east and northeast of the village of Săftica. The Orthodox Church “Sf. Troită”, “Sf. Dumitru şi Sf. Elisabeta” is located in Săftica, Baloteşti Commune, on Strada Sf. Troită.
