Săbișa: Church, Festivals and Routes to Dealul Comșa

The masonry church „Sfântul Mucenic Dimitrie“ in Săbișa was built in 1836. The present appearance of the Orthodox church in Săbișa is the result of several renovations carried out in 1967–1969 and 1984–1986. The iconostasis of the church in Săbișa was replaced in 1993–1995 with an iconostasis made by the craftsman Vasile Chici.

Religious festivals are also among the named cultural events. The town administration promoted the patronal feast of the Orthodox church „Sfântul Mare Mucenic Dimitrie, Izvorâtorul de mir“ in Săbișa. The „Balul Coșercilor“, a local community festival, takes place annually at the cultural center in Săbișa. The church, patronal feast and cultural center thus represent different specific venues and occasions within the locality. Between Săbișa and Seini, a stream called Valea Hotarului flows east of Dealul Soarelui. This stream separates the two localities. Near Valea Hotarului, there is a broad, U-shaped area between two wooded slopes.

The destination of one route is Dealul Comșa on the northern slope. The name of the poet Mihai Eminescu has been laid out there in a spruce plantation. One route variant between Săbișa and Seini passes the mouth of Valea Hotarului, approximately 100 m south of the quarry with the white cross on Dealul Soarelui.

Another route variant leads from Săbișa to Dealul Comșa and descends via Cetatea Seini. The routes therefore run either between Săbișa and Seini or from Săbișa via Dealul Comșa down to Cetatea Seini. For routes with a named destination and a descent, current trail conditions are part of the preparation; the planned route can be checked before setting out. The DN 1C from Baia Mare to Satu Mare, also known as European route E 58, passes through the localities of Seini and Săbișa for approximately 11 km. At the entrance to Săbișa, there is a bicycle rental station on the left-hand side of the DN 1 when entering from the direction of Baia Mare. When travelling via the DN 1C, current road conditions can be taken into account when planning the day. Travel to the area and routes require different preparation steps: road conditions concern access, while trail conditions concern setting out on foot.
