Culture and Crafts
In 2007, the “Lucia Condrea” Museum of Painted Eggs was founded in Moldovița. Its exhibition comprises three sections: unique creations by Lucia Condrea, very old painted eggs collected from places inhabited by Hutsuls, and an international collection.
The egg decoration technique “Arta Condrea” takes the batik technique as its starting point. Lucia Condrea from Moldovița registered the technique. Since 2009, the museum has organized an international summer school for painted eggs, bringing together Romanian and foreign artists.
Cultural themes in Moldovița can be explored through names, forms, collections and an event. You can weigh these different approaches according to your personal interests, desired level of intensity and available time, without following a prescribed order.
In Moldovița, exhibitions, train rides and visits in the natural area belong to different types of activities. You can consider these forms separately and organize your daily rhythm according to which topics you would like to explore for longer or shorter periods.
The cultural offerings also differ in their format: the museum focuses on collections and handicraft design, while the summer school combines the character of an event with international exchange. You can consider the individual topics separately without combining them into a single experience.
Travelling by Mocănița
The tourist train travels from Moldovița towards Argel. The journey is operated by a steam locomotive, covers 25 km and takes three hours for a return trip. Advance reservation is required for the journey on the Mocănița Moldovița.
A scheduled round trip can be treated as a separate time block in your personal planning. The journey can be classified as a separate type of activity alongside cultural content and the natural area.
In the wider regional area, the Moldovița Monastery can also be visited during the stop in Vatra Moldoviței.
Nature and Trails
The Obcina Feredeului protected area is characterized by extensive spruce forests, mixed forests and beech forests interspersed with meadow areas. The Obcina Feredeului Natura 2000 site also extends across Moldovița.
The Obcina Feredeului protected area has several access points, paths, hiking trails and themed trails for sightseeing. You can classify these different types of paths as different forms of sightseeing according to the type of activity and available time frame. Forest and meadow areas, as well as paths, can be considered separate landscape aspects.
The habitats of Obcina Feredeului provide the ecological conditions for the breeding of 11 species of Community interest for nature conservation.
For your personal daily planning, you can consider sightseeing in the natural area, cultural content and the train ride as separate types of activities. The weighting depends on your own rhythm, available time frame and personal interest in the respective forms.
When choosing a hotel in Moldovița, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be compared separately.
