Moldovița Commune: Hotels and Accommodation

The Lucia Condrea Museum of Decorated Eggs is located in the village of Moldoviţa, in Moldoviţa Commune. It comprises more than 5,000 exhibits and is divided into three sections. In Moldovița Commune, this festival takes place every year on Palm Sunday; local women display their work from the previous year.

Traditional blacksmithing with hammer, fire and anvil is still practised by craftsmen from Rașca and Argel in Moldovița Commune. Moldovița has woodcarvers in Argel, Rașca and the village of Moldovița, who represent the commune at relevant specialist events and exhibit their work.

Every year at Christmas, Moldovița Commune hosts a parade of horses and Hutsul folk costumes. On 26 December, a Hutsul folk ball is held there each year, with participants wearing traditional clothing.

Nature

Pădurea Roșoșa is a 205-hectare state-designated natural forest reserve in the village of Moldoviţa, in Suceava County.

Routes and Activities

The Mocănița train departs from Moldovița in the direction of Argel. The themed Via Huțulca hiking route is intended to run through Moldovița and Argel. It comprises eight hiking stages, each 8 to 15 km long, is classified as easy to moderate, and is described as accessible year-round.

Along the Via Huțulca, visitors can visit traditional Hutsul farms, take part in the everyday activities of such a household, taste cheese at a sheep pasture and watch demonstrations of egg decorating. Horse-drawn carriage rides through nature are also available in Moldovița.
