Aranđelovac – Park, Culture and Accommodation

Bukovičke banje Park on the edge of the town center is protected as a category II natural monument and as an area of great importance. It covers more than 22 hectares. The mineral waters of Bukovička Banja are classified as rare cold waters and hypothermal healing waters. Marked hiking trails also begin in the park and lead to the summit of Mount Bukulja.

The park is not only a landscape area but is also connected with the local history of healthcare. The “Bukovička banja” Special Hospital for Rehabilitation combines rehabilitation and treatment with natural healing mineral waters, clay and climate. The recreational area of Bukovička banja includes a swimming pool with a whirlpool and underwater massage. This combination distinguishes a stay in Aranđelovac from a purely urban sightseeing visit, without allowing specific services of any individual accommodation to be inferred from it.

The “Staro zdanje” stands in the park, the oldest preserved building in Bukovičke banje Park and a representative example of Serbian Romantic architecture. Its construction began in 1865 on the orders of Prince Mihailo Obrenović. It was intended as the summer residence of the Obrenović dynasty. Sculpture is also part of the documented cultural history of the town: during the 52 years of the “Beli Venčac” sculpture symposia, more than 200 sculptors from around the world created works in Aranđelovac.

Lake Garaši is 6 km from the town via an asphalt road and offers good conditions for fishing. The lake is also home to an outdoor swimming pool operated by SRC “Šumadija”, courts for small-sided football and beach volleyball, and a restaurant with a veranda. Various events for the youngest visitors take place at “Ulica nasmejanih lica” in Aranđelovac’s town square. They have an educational, entertainment and sports-recreational character and are held every Friday from June to September.
