Topoľníky: Hotels, Cycling Paths, Nature and Thermal Baths

Topoľníky combines a 940-metre cycling path, protected waterways, a thermal bath and evidence of a complex local history. The cycling path runs from the beginning of Horné Topoľníky to the end of Mostová Street. Another cycling path connection leads from Dunajská Streda via Ohrady and Trhová Hradská to Topoľníky. Thus, the destination offers both a clearly defined route within the village and a connection with the surrounding towns and villages.

Culture

Topoľníky was historically an important centre of sturgeon fishing. Salted fish was once transported from there to Warsaw, Kyiv, Moscow, Vienna, Prague and Paris. The local history is connected with this past and includes several visible memorial sites.

The Sword Rights Monument stands in the park next to the cultural centre of Topoľníky and bears the year 1796. It symbolises the power of the Pálffy counts, who could even punish convicted offenders with death. Topoľníky is also home to a monument to Sándor Petőfi, erected in 1995. The battles are commemorated by a monument at the end of Orlová Street and an obelisk in the cemetery of Topoľníky.

The local church also combines several periods: part of it was built in 1307, while it acquired its present appearance in 1853.

The Topoľníky thermal bath has been in operation since 1983 and offers opportunities for swimming, relaxation and leisure activities.
