Culture

The permanent exhibition „Rudarsko stanovanje“ is located in the authentic setting of the old Njiva mining colony (Trg svobode). Its collections are presented in an atmospheric „in situ“ setting. Almost all items of furniture and small inventory objects are original. In terms of content, the exhibition contrasts the living culture of Zasavje in the 1920s and 1960s.

History

A guided tour begins at Termoelektrarna Trbovlje with a visit to Europe's tallest industrial chimney, which is 360 metres high. The tour also travels by bus to mining colonies that were established a hundred years ago as homes for miners and are still largely inhabited today. This tour therefore combines technical grandeur, former living conditions and still-used settlement structures in a single itinerary.

The virtual mining museum offers another historical perspective. There, visitors can pass through a real mine tunnel equipped with original mining exhibits, light and sound effects, holograms and projections. Using state-of-the-art equipment for virtual and augmented reality, visitors immerse themselves in the world of miners as it was 100 years ago. The museum shows the lives of mining families and their struggle for a better future. It is located in Delavski dom Trbovlje, Trg svobode 11/a, 1420 Trbovlje.

Nature

Kum Landscape Park covers the southern part of the municipality of Trbovlje on the right bank of the Sava. The area was granted landscape park status in 1996 by an ordinance of the Municipality of Trbovlje. The park extends over 2,232 hectares and offers interesting insights into the natural and cultural heritage.

Cycling

There is also a specific plan for future orientation by bicycle: as part of the operation, a cycling map with marked cycle paths was to be created for the Municipality of Trbovlje. The planned connections ran through the town, from the town into the surrounding area or to mountain peaks, and between mountain huts. The planned scope of the map thus links urban routes, the immediate surrounding area, mountain destinations and hut locations.
