Work in Poland: new opportunities for migrants
(News from Poland)
Jobs in Poland for foreigners – finding a job will be easier for citizens of several states. Poland opens the borders for migrant workers from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova and Georgia. It is reported by the Russian site bfm.ru citing RIA Novosti. Under the new rules, which come into force in Poland since 1 January 2011, citizens of these countries in order to be eligible to work in Poland will be sufficient to provide a certificate from the employer confirming the employment.
It is noted that the order on the new procedure of accounting of labor migration from the CIS and Eastern Europe was signed recently by the Minister of Labour of Poland Jolanta Fedak.
Currently Poland is experiencing labor shortages in agriculture and other industries. The deficit was caused by the mass exodus of Polish workers to other EU countries. New measures to attract workers from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova are designed to provide an infusion of new manpower resources in the Polish economy.
It is worth noting that the employer now bears the responsibility on all the formalities for the employment of citizens of those countries in Poland in accordance with the new rules. In particular, the employer must inform of the intention to hire a foreigner. He also must register a statement on hiring a foreign citizen in the authority of the place of employment.
Poland currently tries to strengthen its ties with neighboring countries, including Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. As we know, Poland and Ukraine are already preparing to co-host the European Football Championship 2012. As for Russia, teamwork and the cooperation in this sphere has intensified after the visit of President Dmitry Medvedev in Poland. During the visit the president of Poland Bronislaw Komarowski assured his Russian counterpart that Poland is sincerely interested in the early accession of Russia to the WTO. Among the joint projects that were implemented by Russia and Poland in the recent time worth noting the opening of a new checkpoint on the border of Poland and the Kaliningrad region, which was held on December 7, 2010.
